The Power of Purity

purityPurity is the call of every one of us who believe. We are to be holy. We are to be pure. That is where our power lies. With purity, which is a gift granted by God, we are able to walk and rejoice, and enjoy our lives glorifying God in all things which we do. So we are taking three steps towards purity: Here are the steps: Step 1: the Eyes Step 2: the Mind Step 3: The Heart STEP 1: THE EYES Job 31:1 I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. The eyes, which are never tiered of seeing (prov 27:20) must be brought to subjection. We must tell our eyes what they can and can not see. This is an exercise that once accomplished (Takes about 3-5 weeks of telling your eyes what they are allowed to look at) will allow yo to begin to take control of your purity. To once again rejoice and enjoy good things and not follow after those things which lead to your destruction and inability to enjoy anything. Remember: Proverbs 4:25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Proverbs 17:24 24 Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth. STEP 2: THE MIND Once the defense system of the eye is put in place (Job 31:1), the mind must follow. Once the eyes are starved of images that destroy our purity, the mind begins to search for old images stored up for such a time. At that point we are called to capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 and every proud thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ. Now let us listen to some wisdom about where our minds should be.  Consider these passages and place your mind where the Bible says it should be. James 1:8 ESV He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (BE SINGLE MINDED: Think on one thing) Romans 12:2 ESV Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (LET YOUR MIND BE TRANSFORMED BY GOD AND HIS WORD) Philippians 4:8 ESV Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (THING ON ALL THINGS THAT ARE PURE) Isaiah 26:3 ESV You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (PEACE IS THE BLESSING OF MIND THAT CONSIDERS GOD) STEP 3: THE HEART (friday 9/16/2011 at 6:30 pm)  Come and see!!!
