To share your story with others is only possible when you yourself know your story.
What God has done in your life is worthy of being shared. This is an entry point to sharing the Gospel.
We will take time in the next weeks to discuss the many ways the Gospel is introduced by sharing our story with others. We will see how all stories worth telling have at its core the story of salvation and how we as people must see the great work of God in Christ saving us from ourselves.
Writing it down. Structuring and clear presentation of how God has worked in your life is key.
We will begin by seeing our story through the lenses of the Gospel, following the basic story line of all who are saved.
I was Lost, Yet God Chose Me, is Changing me, and I an becoming more secure in Him.
(This is just an outline. It does not contains the detail of the Gospel message: sin, Repentance, the Cross, New Birth etc. But it does show the basic structure of the story of those who come to Christ)
THE BASIC GOSPEL NARRATIVE
I was…
LOST (State of Man before Christ)
The Bible describes how broken, and dead and blind and def I am – apart from God’s grace – Before I believe.
Romans 14:23 “Whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.”
But God…
CHOSE ME (Work of Father in Salvation)
The Bible describes how God had chosen to do that before the foundation of the world – he did wondering how to save or throw the dice to see who He would say. He did not respond to me – because I was dead – he created my life.
John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.”
Ephesians 1:4 “…He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love “
SAVED ME (Work of the Son in Salvation)
The Bible describes how God died for me in Jesus Christ – so that all my sins could be covered and His righteousness provided for me.
John 3:16, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
GOD IS CHANGING ME (Work of the Spirit in Salvation)
The Bible describes how Christ comes into my life, raising me from the dead and giving sight to see with the eyes of my heart. He is transforming me.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
SO I AM …
SECURED (State of Saved Person)
The Bible describes how God then preserved me forever and ever so I would never fall away.
John 10:27-30 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
